Good outdoor design is not about the alfresco in isolation. It is about what happens at the threshold between inside and out.

At Highvale, that threshold did not exist. A disconnected backyard, poor circulation, and windows that kept the kitchen and alfresco as two separate experiences meant the outdoor space was overlooked rather than lived in. The response was both structural and considered.

Defined entertaining zones, improved access to the home, and a material palette rooted in natural and rustic finishes gave the space its foundation. The European aesthetic and decorative columns the client requested were integrated with restraint, letting the architecture carry the detail rather than compete with it.

Replacing the sliding windows with bifold windows and a servery bench completed the connection the space had always been missing. Inside and outside now move as one.
