The Studio

Studio Fernandes was founded by Emma Fernandes from a genuine understanding of renovation, and everything that comes with it.

After renovating her own home, Emma went on to study both interior design and project management, shaping an approach that considers the creative and practical sides of a project in equal measure.

“A home should support the way you live, feel effortless to move through and continue to work for you long after the excitement of a renovation has worn off.”

We believe the most successful interiors are not defined by any one material, colour or piece of furniture. They are the result of many considered decisions, each made in relation to the next.

It is this thinking that shapes our work: homes that feel cohesive, refined and distinctly personal, without ever feeling over-designed.

Our  Approach

Every Studio Fernandes project begins with understanding how a home needs to be lived in.

From there, we consider the whole: proportion and flow, materiality and colour, functionality and detail. Each decision is made with an understanding of how it will influence the next, creating spaces that feel resolved rather than simply styled.

Some clients engage us to create the complete design before taking it into construction themselves. Others have us beside them from the earliest ideas through to the finished home.

In either case, the intention remains the same: a clear design vision, considered in its entirety.

Emma's approach to design is shaped by an understanding that a beautiful idea is only successful if it can be realised well.

Her background in interior design and project management brings a practical rigour to the creative process, with consideration given not only to how a space will look, but how it will be built, experienced and lived in.

“Great design doesn’t exist in isolation. It has to work within the realities of budgets, construction, timelines and everyday life.”

For us, the measure of a successful interior is not how it photographs the week it is finished.

It is how it feels to live in years later.
